A man is back in custody after slipping through officers' grasps during an overnight arrest.

Police were responding to a disturbance call at an apartment complex on West Tidwell Road and Lost Forest Drive.

They were handcuffing a suspect as part of an assault investigation when another fight broke out between another male and a female across the parking lot.

Officers say they were distracted by the fight when the suspect in handcuffs took off running.

He managed to slip away, and officers say they initially lost him.

A resident then told police officers she saw a man in handcuffs running toward the back of the apartments.

They set up a perimeter and with the help of a K-9 unit, were able to find the man and rearrested him.

He now faces escape charges on top of the other charges.

The other two people who were fighting were also arrested.
