It's scheduled to be built on the same campus as the current Sterling High School on Martindale Road, which was built back in 1965.

Construction on the new campus should start in the near future, and could be complete in two years, according to the Houston Business Journal.

This school focusing on aviation was approved in 2012 with a $1.9 billion bond vote.
The bond issue included 21 other schools and upgrades to athletic facilities district-wide.

The Houston-based S.H.W. Group architects was named as the architect for the project.
