HOUSTON -

Houston police have charged a man for the murder of a pregnant woman who was violently killed while working at a gentleman's club on the city's southwest side.

Twenty-three-year-old Osvaldo Fernandez-Aguilar is charged with capital murder, but he is not in custody.

The Houston Police Department said a 911 call was made around 4:40 p.m. Saturday, March 22, by the manager of Eclipse Gentleman's Club.

When police arrived, they found the body of 27-year-old Maria Lucrecia.

“She was brutally beaten and strangled. Ms. Lucrecia was also five months pregnant at the time of her death,” HPD Detective Richard Bolton said.

According to homicide investigators, the victim worked as a cleaning lady at the club during the day.

“Strangling her and killing her, right on the floor, for $1000, I just can’t see anybody doing that,” said club manager Rozbeh Sakaki.

Lucrecia's husband said that he talked to her when she arrived at work, but after a while he was unable to reach her.

Worried, he drove to the club but was unable to get inside, so he called the business manager.

When the manager arrived, both men went inside and found Lucrecia's body lying on the floor.

Investigators said this was part of a robbery.

Officials say the attacker entered through the back door to take the cash register, which had more than $1,000 inside.

Homicide investigators released surveillance video that they say led to the suspect being identified.

Sunday, the manager of the strip club said the suspect worked as a contracted security officer at Eclipse but was fired about three weeks before the murder. The manager said the employee was fired after complaints from customers that he was rude.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
