HOUSTON – Sources tell KPRC Local 2 that Precinct 1 Constable Jack Abercia is planning to retire at the end of January.
Last week, Abercia announced he will not be seeking re-election.

Sources say Abercia is currently under investigation by the FBI because of claims that a Harris County Precinct 1 employee was given special consideration during the hiring process.
The FBI will not confirm whether or not there is an ongoing investigation targeting Abercia.
Abercia has been facing numerous health problems in the past couple of years and is currently battling cancer.
Abercia has been a Precinct 1 Constable since 1991.
