Police: Women left children alone in apartment without food

HOUSTON – Authorities say two women left three children, including a toddler, in an apartment with no supervision while they went to eat at a fast-food restaurant.

Neighbors reported the incident to the police on Monday after hearing cries coming from inside the apartment.  

Authorities said they found the 3-year-old, 4-year-old and 8-year-old stuck in the dark without air conditioning. The food in the fridge was spoiled, officials said.

Authorities said they do not know how long Lucidalia Martinez, 38, and Brenda Vazquez, 34, left the children alone.

Both are charged with endangering a child and are being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
