Police: woman steals 6 cases of beer from Richmond store

RICHMOND, Fort Bend County – A woman was arrested for allegedly holding up a Richmond convenience store and stealing six cases of beer.

The woman is accused of stealing six cases of beer, but that's not all. Police say when an officer caught up with her and pulled her over, she reached into the back seat, grabbed a beer and started drinking it.

Valerie Dixon is the woman accused of the bizarre beer run. Richmond police say Dixon went into the Valero at 207 Highway 90A just before 5 a.m. Thursday, put what appeared to be a weapon against the clerk's back  and ordered the employee to a back room.

While the clerk called 9-1-1, Dixon is accused of carrying out three 18 packs of beer and after that returning for another three cases -- a feat that seems somewhat impressive.

Police say after Dixon drove away from the store an officer spotted a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle's description and pulled it over.

Investigators say when the officer questioned Dixon she grabbed a beer from the back seat and started to drink it in front of him.

The employee inside the store wasn't hurt.

Dixon, 44, is still in the Fort Bend County Jail and faces a robbery charge. Her bail amount has not been set.
