GALVESTON, Texas – A homeowner said she was ready to catch a burglar after being targeted several times recently.
Carrie King said her home on 36th Street in Galveston has been burglarized 10 times in the past month.
King decided that she wanted to put an end to the crime spree, so she got a paintball gun and waited for the thief to come back.
Galveston police said Elvis Alexander broke the lock on King's front door on Friday. King was home at the time.
"He started wrestling with stuff on the right-hand side, though the left-hand side and then started up the stairs. That's when I called 911," King said.
King was able to keep Alexander there because she had that paintball gun.
"I know I shot him at least three times in the neck, one in the breastbone and one in the side," she said.
King said Alexander tried to steal hundreds of dollars worth of half-dollar coins and something rather unusual -- ramen noodles.
King said she was happy she was not hurt, and she plans to always keep that paintball gun loaded.
"If I would have shot him the same way I did with a paintball gun with a real gun, he would have been dead," she said.
Alexander has been charged with burglary of a habitation. He was booked into the Galveston County Jail with bond set at $43,000.
Alexander was also arrested on burglary charges in 1993.
