Police: Woman loses money in car repair scam

HOUSTON – A woman says she paid two men for auto work, but all they did was steal from her.

D'Ann Leech, 78, claims she basically paid to be a victim.

She said two men approached her when she was coming out the Baybrook Landing Plaza, 1020 West Nasa Parkway, from running errands last month, according to Webster police.

Leech said the men asked about doing some cheap work on her car. She agreed and paid them $100 for the work.

While they were working on her car, they stole miscellaneous items from her car, including her iPhone and a business card holder with her Social Security card in it, Leech said.

Police said the men got away in either a green Lexus or Toyota SUV or minivan. Detailed descriptions of the men have not been released.
