Woman caught hiding baby in backpack during CPS investigation, police say

ROSENBERG, Texas – A woman was charged with kidnapping Friday after she hid a baby during a Child Protective Service investigation in Rosenberg, police said.

The incident was reported about 9 a.m. in the 1300 block of Wilson Street.

Rosenberg police said when CPS personnel arrived at the home to conduct an interview with the mother, the aunt of the child, 27-year-old Brittany Green, placed the child in a backpack and left the home without the mother’s knowledge.

Police said the mother told them that she did not give Green the consent to take her child.

After a long search, police said they found Green and the child in the 1400 block of William Way Boulevard. Green told police that she was headed to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department to visit her girlfriend, who is in jail, police said.

The child was unharmed, but transported to Oak Bend Hospital and taken into protective custody, police said.

Green was arrested and charged with kidnapping a child.
