Police: Threat against school posted on Facebook

Spring Branch ISD: Threat posted on Memorial High School Confessions page

HOUSTON – Students at a high school were on alert Tuesday after a threat against the school was allegedly posted on Facebook.

Spring Branch Independent School District officials said the threat was posted on the Memorial High School Confessions page, which is not affiliated with the school or school district in any way.

School district police said the post threatened that someone would "shoot up around the library."

Police said they had not seen the threat themselves because it was deleted before they were alerted to it.

Security at the school has been increased and police are working to determined who posted the threat. The FBI is also involved in the investigation.

"Parents are worried because the principal, he made an announcement about it this morning and called all the parents at home and left messages," student Mitchell Rigamonti said.

Anyone with information about the posting is asked to call Spring Branch ISD police at 713-984-9805 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
