Police: Shooter killed teen near playground

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for a man accused of shooting a 15-year-old boy inside an apartment complex just steps away from a playground filled with kids.

It happened yesterday evening inside the Green Arbor Apartments in southeast Houston.

Witnesses said a man who appeared to be in his 20s chased Thomas Williams Junior down and shot him.

After he fell to the ground, the suspect reportedly shot Williams several times in the back.

Residents said they heard the shots and are on alert.

"I just heard gunshots. That's it. I came outside and I [saw] a bunch of people around this little kid," said Ed Vasquez.

"He was gone, man. By the time the ambulance got here, by the time the Fire Marshall and everybody got here, he was gone, man. They pronounced him dead," said Reece Jones.

Another teenager on the scene tried to help the Williams and performed CPR, but it was too late.
