Police search for man after triple shooting outside apartment

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for the man who shot three people Friday morning after an argument between neighbors.

Investigators said a man and a woman, who both live at Broadway Square on Broadway near Morley, got into an argument around 2 a.m. After the argument, the pair left and returned to their own apartments.

According to officers, the woman then rounded up her boyfriend and her brother, and all three walked over to the neighbor's unit.

"He wanted to confront the guy for fighting his girlfriend and he broke the window with his hand. While he was leaving, the suspect produced a weapon and started shooting," said Sgt. R.T. Lewis with the Houston Police Department.

Police said the woman was shot three times. Her brother and her boyfriend were both struck once. All three victims were taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition and are expected to survive their injuries.

A woman who lives in the apartment where the shooting happened said she and her two year old niece hid in a closet when the shots were fired. She said her brother's friend is the one who grabbed a gun, after the other group came to their door threatening them. She said they were also armed with a gun.

"The dude was trying to get in the house and he broke the window – we knew my niece was in the house so I guess that was his instinct, to grab it," said the woman, who didn't want to be identified.

The suspect fled the scene and took the gun with him. Police believe they know the suspect's identity and will be following up on leads to locate him.
