Police search for burglars who smashed truck into NW Houston Walgreens

HOUSTON – Police are searching for the group of men who smashed into a northwest Houston Walgreens Monday morning.

Police believe the men were trying to break into the store's ATM, but did not realize the store on Longpoint and Highcrest was open for business.

"They heard a loud crash at the front and a truck had been driven into the front of the store," said Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department.

The sound sent employees scrambling inside the 24-hour store. Outside seven men jumped out of the truck and were startled to see workers inside the store.

"They ran off on foot. They weren't able to get anything out of the ATM. We're currently searching the area," Crowson said.

The F250 has significant rear end damage and police confirm the truck was reported stolen from the northeast part of town Sunday night.
