HOUSTON – McDonald's employees had some terrifying moments when three robbers burst into the restaurant and started shooting.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened around midnight Saturday on Highway 290 and Tidwell Road.

Witnesses said three men wearing hoodies came inside the McDonald's with guns and held the employees and customers at gunpoint, demanding cash and cellphones.

The employees all ran out different doors, but as one was running for the door, one of the suspects opened fire and shot him.

"(I) heard gunshots -- four gunshots at first -- and as soon as we heard the four gunshots, we saw the women, employees run. They just started running, and then we heard three more gunshots fired at the employees," said Mario, a man who witnessed the incident. "The three males that had fired their weapons inside of this place, they ran towards the pharmacy."

Investigators said they still don't know if the men got away with cash from the registers. The man who was shot managed to stumble to the Taco Cabana next door and told them to call 911. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in serious but stable condition.
