Taco Cabana manager shot in leg during morning robbery
Three masked men stormed the restaurant with guns
Police are looking for three suspects after a shooting at a Taco Cabana on Houston’s southwest side.
It happened early Thursday morning at the restaurant located in the 7500 block of Bellaire near the Southwest Freeway.
Houston police said three armed suspects stormed into the restaurant and started shooting. They were all wearing masks.
According to police, the suspects demanded cash from the registers and shot the manager in the leg. She is expected to be okay.
After the shooting, police said one suspect got into a vehicle and drove off. The other two hopped on a METRO bus and escaped with about $300.
Taco Cabana COO Todd Coerver released the following statement to Local 2 Thursday:
"We are deeply affected by events this morning where several team members of the Taco Cabana family were threatened and one was shot in the leg during a robbery at a Houston location. The shooting victim was treated and released from a nearby hospital. Our thoughts are with them all and we are doing everything we can to support and comfort them at this difficult time.
"The safety of our employees and guests is our highest concern and we are assisting the authorities in their investigation, and all questions concerning the event should be directed to the Houston police."
