Officials said the incident the suspension stemmed from happened on Oct. 31. Nelson was sent out to a family services call and supervisors were called out after he was accused of acting unprofessionally with the person who called for help.

Police officials said an administrative investigation concluded that Nelson was found to have violated department rules and regulations, including conduct unbecoming and conduct prejudicial to good order, and that led to the indefinite suspension. A criminal investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Galveston County District Attorney's Office.
