Police: Officer, suspect collide during chase

HOUSTON – A police chase in northwest Houston came to an abrupt end Wednesday morning after, investigators said, the officer slammed his patrol car into the suspect's vehicle.

Investigators said the suspect ran a red light around 3 a.m. Wednesday. When a Houston police officer tried to pull him over, he took off.

The suspect led police on a short chase until he eventually tried to make a turn onto 24th Street at North Main.

For some reason, police said he wasn't able to navigate the turn and ended up slamming into a light pole. The officer wasn't able to stop in time and ran into the back of the suspect's car.

No injuries were reported. The suspect was arrested.

No word on why he wouldn't stop for police.
