Police: Man stole women's underwear

Man left notes, told women he was watching them

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Harris County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Tuesday who they say broke into homes and stole women's underwear.

Deputies arrested 32-year-old Abel Martinez during a traffic stop in northwest Harris County. He is accused of breaking into women's apartments and leaving notes claiming he was watching them.

Sources said there were no signs of forced entry.

Martinez is accused of breaking into four apartments in one apartment complex on West Road near Beltway 8.

Sources said the case came to an end when someone made an anonymous call saying they had received some of the stolen stuff.

Martinez was on parole for a 1998 aggravated assault with a deadly weapon conviction when he was arrested, said sources.

Investigators feared he would soon run away after applying for a passport, said sources.
