Police: Man shot during attempted carjacking

HOUSTON – A man called police early Wednesday and reported he had been shot by someone who tried to carjack him at a stoplight.

Houston police said Harold Gagliano, 56, reported that he had been blocked in at the intersection of the Eastex Freeway feeder road at Kingwood Drive about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Someone got out of a gray Chevrolet pickup truck that blocked Gagliano in and opened fire, investigators said.

The shooter and at least one other person left for unknown reasons and Gagliano then called 911, detectives said.

Gagliano drove himself to Kingwood Medical Center, investigators said. He was later taken to Ben Taub Hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

"They're with the orthopedic surgeon to see what they could do about his hand since it was shot," said Gagliano's son, Skye.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
