When officers got to the bank, they found Donald Wayne Stokes, 59, sitting in the lobby, waiting for them to arrest him, investigators said.

Stokes handed over a stack of cash he had stolen from the teller, police said.

Investigators said Stokes told the teller that he was in a lot of trouble and then went to the lobby to wait for police.

Detectives said Stokes told them that he robbed the bank because he felt guilty for bad things he had done in the past and wanted to be punished.
