HOUSTON - A northwest Houston man has been charged with hitting a neighbor's dog.
According to court documents, Matthew Michael Morris, 33, trespassed into the back yard of his neighbor's house, hit a pit bull with his hand and threw the dog to the ground.
He then fled on foot, but officers were able to arrest him a short time later, police said.
Owners of the house told police that they didn't know why Morris was in their back yard and why he would injure the dog.
Morris has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals. He's being held at the Harris County jail on a $5,000 bond.
