Police: Man drives car into northwest Houston home, pins woman

Police believe man was under the influence; drove through garage, 2 bedrooms

HOUSTON – Police say a mother is recovering in the hospital after a man drove a car through her garage and into her home on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at a home in the 7300 block of Shady Grove Lane at Langfield in northwest Houston at 4:25 p.m.

According to Houston police, a man drove his car through a 37-year-old woman's home, pinning her inside.

Police believe he was under the influence when he drove through the garage and into two bedrooms.  The windshield of the vehicle was broken and the car had multiple scratches.

"He didn't seem to stop. There's no sign of skid marks or anything like that," said Phillip Harmon, the woman's dad.  "I just hope my daughter's alright."

A neighbor said he helped free Harmon's daughter. Police said she was rushed to the hospital.

"Pretty much demolished everything in there," said Harmon. "There is a God in heaven. She's OK, and my grandson was in there as well."

Neighbors said cars have run the stop sign and hit the home before. It sits on a "T" in the road.
