HOUSTON – A man has been accused of beating and choking his own mother.
Houston police said Arthur Ruth, a convicted felon, hurt his 81-year-old mother at a home in the 1800 block of Seaspray Court on Tuesday.

A protective order has since been issued against Arthur, officials said.
He was arrested and charged with injury to the elderly.
Ruth is being held in the Harris County jail without bond.
Officials have not said why Ruth allegedly attacked his mother.
