BELLAIRE, Texas -

The Bellaire Police Chief is warning residents about a string of crimes in the area that have all occurred in the last week.

"These offenses can happen any time and place," Chief Byron Holloway said.

He says in the last seven days there have been four robberies and three home burglaries. One of those home burglaries was caught on home surveillance video.

It happened on July 14 in the 4900 block of Valerie. In the video, you can see a minivan drop off two suspects in the victim's driveway. The suspects then head through the backyard, put on gloves and bust through the glass of a back door.

The suspects got away with jewelry.

"That's creepy," said Ann Marie Sandoval, who lives down the street. "I just hope it stops and people realize if you do something like that you'll probably get caught."

Police believe those suspects are connected to another home burglary on July 16 in the 6900 block of Avenue B. In that incident the suspects also shattered the glass of a back door. They stole two laptops.

In another home burglary on July 14, suspects pretended to be garden workers. They walked into a garage in the 4600 block of Verone Street. They made contact with the resident and lured the resident to the backyard, saying they worked for a tree cutting service.

As one suspect talked to the resident in the backyard, another suspect went inside the house, then stole cash and a class ring.

Chief Holloway warns residents to be alert. If you see any suspicious activity, call 911 or Bellaire PD at 713-668-0487.
