Manager pistol-whipped during grocery store robbery

HOUSTON – Houston police officers are investigating an armed robbery at the FoodTown supermarket on West Little York Road Saturday morning.

Police said around 7:45 a.m. two robbers held two FoodTown managers at gunpoint and forced them into a room with a safe.

One manage was pistol-whipped by the robber, police say.

Police said the robbers fired shots into the air and got away with about $9,000.

The suspects fled in a stolen pickup, which they abandoned on Oaknut Drive and were picked up in another vehicle, authorities said.

Police said the suspects are described as two men dressed in all black with gloves and masks.
