Police investigating rash of McDonald's robberies

HOUSTON – Police are investigating two recent robberies and another attempted robbery at southwest Houston McDonald's restaurants.

Surveillance video reveals the men are armed and aggressive, athletically hopping over the counter during one of the crimes.

"It's not making any sense to us that they keep doing same thing over and over," Aneresa Green, a McDonald's franchise area supervisor said.

The robberies involve two to three men who target stores in the morning.

The first such crime happened Aug. 7 at the McDonald's located at 13532 Beechnut Street in the Alief area.

The second, a very similar crime, happened less than four miles away at 11825 Bellaire on Aug. 12.

Both stores were open at the time of the robberies. Neither employees nor customers were hurt, although both were present.

The most recent incident happened Thursday and it was also caught on camera. The crooks appear to approach the Beechnut McDonald's once again, but fast-thinking employees lock the doors before they can get in.

The unidentified robbers left before police arrived. Both the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff's Office are investigating. If you have information about these crimes call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
