HOUSTON -

Police are investigating three armed robberies that happened less than 4 miles apart from one another early Saturday morning. All of the female victims were robbed at gunpoint for their purses.

According to an alert sent out by the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office, deputy constables and officers from the Houston Police Department were called to the 4100 block of Lanark around 2:45 a.m.

Investigators said a woman and her friend were returning home from an evening out when a vehicle, believed to be a Nissan Sentra, pulled up and a suspect got out of the passenger's side.

The masked suspect then showed a weapon and demanded their purses. The women were not injured, but the suspect was able to get away with one purse.

Moments later another woman had her purse taken at gunpoint at a nearby Jack in the Box in the 5100 block of Bellaire. She was reportedly shaken and was also injured.

The third robbery happened at an apartment complex at Bellaire and Dunlap. Investigators said one woman was robbed of her purse and was shot in that incident. She was taken to a hospital, but her condition is unknown.

The constable's office said the incidents are believed to be related and the investigation is now being handled by the Houston Police Department. Residents are being asked to review any surveillance video they may have that could show the suspect vehicle.
