Police investigate fatal car accident

Police say one of the drivers ran a stop sign at an intersection and was hit by an oncoming car

Houston police are investigating a fatal car accident.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Tuesday at 8200 Woodward.

According to officials, the victim, a 22-year-old woman, was driving a gray Buick Rendezvous northbound on Woodward, while the driver of a blue Pontiac Bonneville was traveling eastbound on Stassen.

Police say the driver of the Pontiac ran the stop sign at the intersection, and was hit by the Buick.

The stop sign is is hidden by hanging tree branches.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Pontiac was transported to St. Joseph's for treatment.

The driver of the Pontiac did not show signs of impairment.

No charges have been filed at the time.

The name of the victim has not been released.
