The man was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he later died.

Investigators are checking surveillance cameras in the area for more information.

“It’s really unknown. We don’t have a motive just yet," HPD Homicide Division Sgt. Thomas Simmons said. "There was a car, it was a white Impala that passes the complainant just before they fall to the ground, but not sure if the vehicle is involved.”

Simmons said shell casings were found about a block away from the scene, but they are not sure if they are related to the incident or if the shooting was a drive by shooting or a stray bullet.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
