Police investigate apparent murder-suicide at health care facility

LIVINGSTON, Texas – Pine Ridge Health Care Facility in Livingston was the scene of a crime Thursday after police say an elderly man walked in, then shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.

Livingston police say it happened at around 9:15 Thursday at 1620 Highway 59 North. Investigators say Horris Jackson, 82, was at the facility visiting his wife, 78-year-old Irene Jackson, when two gunshots were heard from inside her room.

They were both found dead with a handgun nearby. Investigators believe Horris Jackson shot his wife and then shot himself in an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers do not yet have a motive, but are still investigating the shooting.

Both bodies have been released to Cochran Funeral Home where autopsies will be performed.
