Gunmen rob driver at red light in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – Multiple gunmen are on the run after robbing a driver at a red light in southwest Houston.

Around 1 a.m. Monday, two men were at a stop light in the northbound lanes of Gessner Road off Highway 59, according to Houston police.

Police say that's when several gunmen driving an SUV pulled up to the driver and opened fire.

Bullets pierced through the victim's truck and shattered the driver's side window, but did not hit the driver or the passenger. They did suffer cuts from broken glass, according to police.

The SUV fled the scene before police arrived.

Officer's believe one of the victim's cellphone may have been stolen.

As a precaution, police say when stopped at a red light, make sure your doors are locked, your windows are rolled up, and you remain attentive to your surroundings.
