Police impersonators terrorize Houston family

HOUSTON – Investigators are looking for three men who posed as police officers and forced their way into a family's southeast Houston home.

It happened after 1 a.m. at a home on Ilex near Redwood.

Police said three men told the victims they were police officers as they kicked down the door and demanded money and drugs. The victims told police one of the suspects was wearing black clothing and had a badge around his neck.

Three adults and a child were inside the home at the time.

"They don't know who they were, where they came from, or what they were looking for," said one family member.

Rocha said the men also threatened to take the young child if the family did not comply with their demands.

Police said two of the adults were hit with pistols during the robbery.

After stealing cash and other personal items, police said the suspects then stole the family's SUV.

Police said OnStar helped them track the vehicle to the Eastex Freeway and Hopper, but by the time officers found the vehicle the suspects were gone.

Neighbors learned about the crime after waking up Tuesday morning.

"It's so close to my house," said neighbor Josie Martinez. "That's why we put up this fence. Too many things happen in this neighborhood."
