HOUSTON -

Murder charges have been filed against a man who police say shot and killed his wife.

Houston police said Raymond Lazarine, 62, called his adult son just before noon Wednesday and told him he shot his wife, 63-year-old Deborah Lazarine.

Officials said the son drove to his parents home in the 6800 block of Dillon Street where he found his mother's body and called 911.

"We don't believe there are any undue holiday stress related to the scene or anything -- finances or another woman or anything like that -- we just really  don't know at this time," said Brian Harris with the Houston Police Department.

Police said the woman was shot multiple times.

"It's just really sad and tragic," said Juan Guerra, who lives in the neighborhood.

Police said the couple, who we're told were married more than 20 years, owned and operated a business called Lazarine A/C and Electrical Services in Missouri City.

"We do believe the person is of sound mind and body and knows what he is doing and according to the family members, her can be manipulative type person and we don't know what the motive is," said Harris.

Police said Raymond Lazarine was taken into custody. A weapon was also recovered at the home.

Lazarine is charged with murder.
