Police: Husband found shot to death

Investigators: Man had ties to another murder victim

HOUSTON – A woman who came home to find her husband shot to death has learned investigators suspect the case might be related to another recent murder.

Authorities said Coty Beavers, 28, was last seen alive in the early-morning hours of November 12.

He'd walked his wife to her vehicle and returned to his apartment in the 10800 block of Legacy Park Drive, investigators said.

Officials said his wife returned home later that afternoon to find her husband's lifeless body inside the apartment.

In a strange twist, Harris County deputies confirmed that the man's twin brother's girlfriend, Gelareh Bagherzadeh, was killed earlier this year.

Bagherzadeh was a 30-year-old M.D. Anderson student and anti-Iranian activist who was shot in the head in her car near the Galleria in January.

Officials with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said they could not confirm a connection between the two shootings, but are pursuing active leads.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in either case. If you have any information, give them a call at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
