Police: Homeowner scares thieves in SW Houston Home

Thieves leave with TV, AC unit

HOUSTON – The search is on for two thieves who broke into a Southwest Houston home by kicking in a side door.

It happened in the 6000 block of Edgemoor Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Houston police said the thieves got away with a TV and air conditioner, and likely would have stolen a lot more if the homeowner hadn't come home and interrupted their plan.

The homeowner asked KPRC Local 2 to not reveal his identity.

"If they had a little more time, they could have stolen all these things," said the homeowner.

Police said the burglars ransacked the couple's son's room and stacked some other electronics, including a gaming system, by the back door. But the homeowner's wife entered the home and startled the burglars in the nick of time, police said.

Authorities said no was able to get a good look at the suspects before they hopped in their getaway car and took off.

"I'm going to put metal on the doors and the windows so there is no way the people can come in," said the homeowner.

The Houston police are investigating.
