Police: Dad lets son, 3, drive in toy on busy road

HOUSTON – A father has been accused of letting his 3-year-old son drive a motorized toy vehicle down a busy road.

Jeremy Scott, 23, has been charged with endangering a child.

Houston police said the child was in the toy car on the shoulder of Maxey Road near Eastrbrook on Friday while his dad drove alongside him in his real car. Scott controlled his son's vehicle with a remote control, investigators said.

"Both cars were starting and stopping, starting and stopping," witness Rob Hernandez said.  "He'd jump in the other car and talk to the little kid."

Investigators said when they got out to the scene, they found a 1-year-old child unsecured in the family car.

Detectives said Scott claimed he was driving to a nearby car wash.

Scott was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. His bond has been set at $15,000.
