Police: Crash leads to arrests in 12 burglaries

PEARLAND, Texas – Three teenagers accused of burglarizing multiple garages and vehicles were arrested after a car crash, police said.

Investigators said the driver of a vehicle fell asleep at the wheel and rammed into a pole in League City early Sunday morning.

As League City police investigated the crash, they found items in the vehicle believed to have been stolen from homes in Pearland, officials said.

Police in League City notified Pearland investigators. Officers said they determined that a total of 10 vehicles and two garages were burglarized in the Towne Lake subdivision.

According to investigators, the burglaries happened between midnight and 4:30 a.m. on March 3.

The stolen items included cash, DVDs, sports equipment, fishing poles, a computer, a firearm and ammunition, a GPS unit, speakers and an amplifier, police said. 

In one of the cases, a homeowner heard their car alarm chirp and chased the thieves out of their vehicle, investigators said.

The suspects have been identified as Matthew Wymyczak, 17, Daniel Lozano, 18, and Mason Allen, 19. All three are from League City.  

All three suspects were charged with burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a habitation, burglary of a building and theft of a firearm.  

The three teens are being held in the Brazoria County Jail on bonds totaling $105,000 each.
