HOUSTON -

Police said they caught a church burglar red handed in southeast Houston.

Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, police said the crook tripped an alarm at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Nagle near Hadley.

Once police arrived, investigators said they found the suspect inside, trying to steal items from the church. While the responding officer was holding the suspect at gunpoint, officials said he heard glass breaking from another location in the church.

Concerned another suspect may be in the church, officials said the officer called for a K-9 unit to assist. The sound turned out to be falling glass from the original window the suspect broke to get into the church.

No word yet on any charges in the case.
