HOUSTON -

A police chase through southwest Houston ended in two crashes and an arrest early Monday morning.

Officers were chasing a man who refused to stop around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning. During the chase, one of the officers crashed his patrol car on the northbound feeder road of the Sam Houston Parkway.

Police said the suspect also crashed his SUV after losing control.

"The suspect made a quick movement and struck the curb with his vehicle and continued forward," said Sgt. Cedric Nickerson with the Houston Police Department. "The officer attempted to avoid causing an accident. He veered and jumped the curb, striking an embankment."

The driver was pulled from the SUV and arrested.  He faces several charges, including felony evading.

A female passenger was treated at the scene.

According to reports, the initial investigation began near Bissonnet and Forum Park, where officers were conducting a prostitution investigation.

"That area where the investigation began is known for prostitution, and that's what initiated the investigation," said Sgt. Nickerson.

The name of the suspect was not immediately released.
