HOUSTON – A police chase near the Galleria ended in a fiery crash Friday.
It started a little before 2 a.m., when officers spotted a driver in a Nissan run a stop sign in the 6100 block of Westheimer Road.
Police said the officer tried to pull the driver over, but he sped off.
As the suspect neared Fountain View Drive, investigators said he slammed into a pickup truck. The force of the crash sent the truck reeling into a wooden utility pole, snapping it in half.
The suspect driver and his two passengers ran away after the crash, but officers managed to catch and arrest them.
Police said the man driving the truck wasn't hurt.
