HOUSTON - Investigators are trying to determine what prompted a driver to lead officers on an overnight police chase.
The chase started at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on Jensen Drive when the officer began following a car he said seemed suspicious.
The officer said when the driver noticed he was being followed, he took off at a high rate of speed.
Officers said they threw out spikes, which three of the suspect's tires hit on the North Loop Feeder Road near Dacoma Street and caused the tires to go flat. The driver kept going until Antoine and the North Loop Feeder Road.
The driver was taken into custody.
Houston Police said they do not know why the driver took off because he was not intoxicated and did not have a warrant out for his arrest.
He is facing felony evading arrest charges.
