HOUSTON - A burglary suspect was arrested after police saw him running down the street with a big television in his hands, authorities said.
The arrest was made near Herschelwood and Windemere streets in southwest Houston on Thursday morning.
A resident called 911 after spotting three suspicious men carrying a bag full of items, investigators said. Police said a trio of thieves had broken into a house.
Resident Mike Jones said he was stunned to see a small army of officers and K-9s canvassing the area in response to the call.
"I was like, ‘Whoa, what's going on?' Is this a terrorist attack or something?" said Jones.
Police said dogs lead the way as officers went door-to-door to look for the three suspects. Residents were ordered back into their homes as officers searched houses and backyards.
Authorities didn't have to look far for one thief. Officers said they chased one suspect down, arrested him, and dusted the TV he's accused of stealing to find fingerprints.
"It's just not normal for a person to be running down the street with a television," said Jones.
Jones said daylight break-ins like are becoming too common in his neighborhood.
"It's been getting out of hand the last few months. Just recently, (there was) had a burglary," said Jones.
Police said they were only able to catch one of the men, whose name has not yet been released. The other two got away.
Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call authorities.
