Man killed after gunman shoots through door of home in northwest Houston

Police say victim's parents were home at the time

HOUSTON – A man was shot and killed Monday inside a home in northwest Houston, officials said.

Police and homicide detectives are investigating a shooting death of George Milson, 51, who was shot in the stomach through the door of the home in the 4100 block of Oak Shadow Drive.

HPD Homicide Detective Shaun Sylvester said, "Right now all we have is a male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and he was shot through the door."

Neighbors reported hearing several gunshots in the area.

Paul Moffett, who lives nearby said, "I thought they were just shooting in the air like people (are) always doing, obviously is was something different because I see this took place."

Investigators said the shooting happened around 12:10 a.m. Milson was found lying on the living room floor later that same afternoon. Though the victim's parents were home during the shooting, they weren't able to report the crime, police said.

"He has family and they were there but they have medical conditions and didn't hear or see anything," Sylvester said.

Police said it was family and friends who discovered the victim's body hours after he'd been shot.

"We do know there was an argument prior in the evening. We're trying to investigate that and find out what happened and if this is related, but were not sure right now," Sylvester said.

Police said no witnesses have come forward and they have no suspects.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
