Police believe man wanted for murder might have fled to Houston from San Antonio

DAnthony Carter wanted on capital murder charge

SAN ANTONIO – Police have issued a capital murder warrant for DAnthony Carter.

Carter, 18, is wanted with connection to the shooting death of Zachary Benavidez on June 7. Police believe Carter might have fled San Antonio and is in Houston.

Benavidez, 23, was shot multiple times during the robbery attempt at the Diamond Food Mart located on Vance Jackson Road.

According to the police, two men walked into the store around 5 p.m. and demanded customers to get on the ground. That's when, police said, one of the suspects walked behind the counter and hit Benavdez with the butt of the gun. 

Police said Benavidez then lunged at the suspect and fought him, ending up in a back room. The suspect then shot Benavidez seven times. 

Carter also has a warrant for aggravated robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP. A reward of $5,000 is also being offered.
