LA MARQUE, Texas – A man is on the run after authorities say he robbed a store at gunpoint in La Marque.
The La Marque Police Department responded to an armed robbery Tuesday around 7:20 p.m. at the Cedar Food Mart located at 2526 Cedar Drive.
Investigators said a man entered the store, asking to use a pay phone. Officers said moments later he returned with his face covered and armed. Investigators said the man entered the store, pointing the gun at the market's cashier. He then jumped over the cashier counter after threatening to kill the clerk, police said.
The man continued to threaten the clerk — pointing the gun at him — as he stole money from the cash register, officers said. Investigators said he then broke the clerk's phone. After stealing the money, police said he left the store and fled eastward on foot.
