Police: 300 rounds of ammo, pit bull found in burglary suspect's car

HUMBLE, Texas – A man suspected of burglarizing several homes ran away from officers on Friday, but he left some unusual things inside his car, investigators said.

Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables and Humble police said two off-duty officers spotted the man, who was wanted in connection with multiple garage burglaries in the Atascocita area, and followed him.

The off-duty officers called for marked units and a short time later, the man figured out that he was being followed. Humble police said the man then pulled into a business on Humble Place near Rotary, hit a curb, blew out all four of his tires and then ran off.

Investigators searched the area for the man, but they did not find him.

Detectives searched the man's car and found an assault rifle, a pistol, 300 rounds of ammunition and a pit bull. Officials said the man may have lived in the car because they found a lot of dirty clothes and trash.

A scant description of the man was released. Detectives said he is white, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160 pounds.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
