Pickup truck smashes into pawn shop

HOUSTON – Police are looking for a group that crashed into a southeast Houston pawn shop to burglarize it.

Houston police said a pickup truck crashed through a cinderblock wall at the back of Cash America Pawn on Almeda near Rosewood about 3:20 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators said the men stole an undetermined amount of merchandise.

The group's pickup truck was found abandoned nearby, but the men were gone, police said.

The store has surveillance cameras inside and outside. Customers even have to push a buzzer to be allowed inside.

Detectives said they were going to look at surveillance video to see if it can help them identify the thieves.

Crews spent the morning replacing the busted cinderblocks and cleaning up inside.
