HOUSTON -

A crash in the area of Clay and Gessner in northwest Houston left the area without power early Tuesday morning.

Officers said a car and a pickup truck were playing a game of “cat and mouse” when they veered off to the right. The truck crashed into a stoplight and a utility pole in the intersection at Gessner.

The truck caught fire, but the driver was able to safely get out.

It appeared all parties were taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Because of the crash, some stop lights and power were out on Clay Road.

CenterPoint Energy is on the scene working on getting the power back up to the affected areas, but officers warn that the intersection will not have a light before rush hour. Drivers should avoid the area Tuesday morning.
