Pedestrian struck and killed on Interstate 45

HOUSTON – The two left northbound mainlanes of Interstate 45 near Gulf Bank Road are open after a fatal accident shut them down at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The HOV lane was closed northbound and two left lanes were shut down from West Road to West Mount Houston.

Police say two men in their 20s were trying to cross the freeway on foot. One of the men was struck and killed in the HOV lane. The second man fled the scene and has not been located.

The accident is being investigated by the Metro Police Department. There will be no charges filed against the driver who hit the pedestrian with his vehicle.
