A married Pearland couple has been arrested in connection with a stabbing June 25.
Stephen Trent Smith, 29, and Kiesta Danielle Smith, 24, have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - a second-degree felony.
Authorities say the incident happened on the 1200 block of Enterprise Avenue around 11:15 p.m. A League City police officer was patrolling the area and saw a truck driving through grass, according to officials.
Investigators say the officer made contact with the driver who was bleeding.
Police say that the victim told the officer he was stabbed and he was taken to Clear Lake Regional Hospital and treated for his wounds.
Investigators say follow-up interviews led to the arrests of the Smiths. Police say there was a romantic relationship between the victim and Kiesta Smith. The husband and wife were arrested at their home in Pearland.
They both have a bond set at $40,000.
The penalty is a two to 20-year prison term and up to a $10,000 fine if convicted.
